Preview of what’s coming:
We do currently have four kill pen rescues in. It will be a while before they are ready to be placed. We have Two mares with foals at their sides. We are holding onto the filly, twig, hopefully she has what it takes to enter our two and a half year complete program, and the colt, Dollar, is spoken for. The mares, a bay and a palomino overo paint will be placed into our professional 60 day colt starting program after the babies are done nursing and they have been weaned properly. To you, this means, the mares will be available for adoption around Christmas 2026! If you’d like a sneak peak or to get your application in, please contact the girls to learn more!
Keep in mind the mares look rough (and these are good photos). They were not taken care of properly. It’s sad. They are bred with the best of them but were neglected and if we did not purchase them they could have had a very different fate. You’d think this means we got them cheap. That is certainly not the case. Plus you add proper nutrition, vet, farrier and quarantine related costs and it all adds up. The girls are funding their rehab personally. Willow: 8 year old bay mare- sweet and calm. Very green broke. She is an easy going as they come and would get along with someone who likes to explore on horseback. Nothing rattles this pretty mare. She would benefit from a human with a laid back personality.
Penny: Penny is the looker of the two! With tons of color she stands out. However, at 3 years old she is terrified of everything and everyone. We will put many intensive hours into Penny to get her feeling confident. She would benefit from an advanced to intermediate rider when she is done with the program. She will require a strong and confident leader who will let her know that she’ll be just fine. Penny clearly has not seen the best of humanity in her three years of life. That much is clear. BUT, Even with a baby at her side, we have not seen a mean side of her at all. Just very frightened. She has loads of potential.
